Saturday, April 17, 2010, 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.: Join butterfly monitors Susie Bennett and Caroline Christman, both from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, in the Marin Headlands to search for the endangered Mission Blue Butterfly in its beautiful and unique grassland habitat. They will lead you on a moderate hike where you will learn about the local wildflowers and the restoration work being done to help save this beautiful but rare butterfly from extinction. To the Hayward teacher – we just got a confirmation today that we saw a mission blue! Susie said that it is the first time it has been seen sucking mud and so we observed a new behavior in the blue! How cool is that? Didn’t need to go to the rifle range after all but the pipevines made it worthwhile. See you again in nature! Kate
